Review of Amazon Echo Spot (2024) launches with a new design, improved sound, and a 44% discount at launch.

Sales of the Amazon Echo Spot were discontinued five years ago, and now Amazon is reintroducing the compact smart home speaker with a built-in touchscreen and Alexa voice control. To celebrate the launch, the new Echo Spot is being offered with a significant 44% discount.
The Amazon Echo Spot was first introduced in 2018 but was discontinued the following year. Five years later, Amazon is unveiling a new model that essentially resembles the Echo Pop, but with the top half of the front panel replaced by a 2.8-inch rectangular touchscreen with a resolution of 320 x 240.

This makes the display much smaller than the round screen of the first-generation Echo Spot but allows Amazon to fit a 44.5 mm front-facing speaker, promising better sound quality. The Echo Spot (2024) is primarily positioned as an alarm clock, which is unsurprising given its compact format. The touchscreen not only displays the time and upcoming alarms but also allows users to control smart home devices, view the weather forecast, or display calendar entries.
In addition to the touchscreen, the smart speaker can be controlled via voice commands through Amazon Alexa. The microphones can be disabled using a button on the top panel to ensure privacy. Music can also be streamed to the Echo Spot (2024) via Bluetooth. The device is equipped with a MediaTek MT8519 ARM chip, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage, and supports WiFi 5, both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.
Price and Availability
The Amazon Echo Spot (2024) is available at a price of $79.99. However, ahead of Amazon Prime Day, the new Echo Spot is offered to Prime members for just $44.99. The smart home speaker comes in black, white, or blue colors.
