Review of the eufy L60: self-cleaning of the turbo brush and dustbin, 5000 Pa, wet cleaning

The eufy L60 robot vacuum hit the market in early 2024. Its main feature is self-cleaning at the station, not only for the dustbin but also for the turbo brush. To achieve this, the station is equipped with special blades that move along the central brush, cutting off tangled hair and fur. This solution significantly simplifies the maintenance process for the robot vacuum.

In addition to the station, the eufy L60 boasts lidar for navigation, increased suction power of up to 5000 Pa, and a wet cleaning function. This set of features comes at a price of around 30-35 thousand rubles.

In this review, I will thoroughly test the eufy L60, highlight its pros and cons, and share my personal opinion on whether it’s worth purchasing this robot vacuum. I’d appreciate it if you could subscribe and like after watching the video. So, let’s get started!

Package Contents

The robot vacuum arrived in this branded box:

The package contents are standard and include the robot itself with the station, a holder with a mop cloth for wet cleaning, and an instruction manual in English.

Appearance

Now let’s take a look at the design of the eufy L60. Starting with the robot vacuum itself, it has a round shape and comes in black.

There is no wall sensor. In the center, there is a sensor for detecting large obstacles in the robot’s path. The body height is just under 10 cm, although the stated height is 102 mm.

Navigation is handled by a lidar equipped with a spring-loaded cover. Next to it are two mechanical control buttons.

The combined water and dust container is removed from the back. The dustbin has a capacity of 260 ml. The filtration system is based on a HEPA filter, foam, and a mesh. The water tank has a capacity of 290 ml and includes a pump for electronic control of water flow. A holder with a mop cloth is attached to the bottom of the tank, which is secured using Velcro and a pocket.

At the bottom of the robot, there are 3 anti-fall sensors. There is no carpet sensor. It has one side brush, a three-arm brush secured with a screw.

The central brush block is not floating. Only part of the cover with a scraper moves. The brush itself is a combination of bristle and rubber fins. It can be disassembled from both sides for cleaning tangled hair and fur.

Speaking of the station, under the top lid is a dust bag, with a cleaning tool conveniently stored nearby. The bag is of standard design.

And here is the highlight of the station, the self-cleaning system for the turbo brush. Inside, there are blades, and underneath them, a removable tray that collects part of the cut-off hair and fur.

The self-cleaning process works as follows: the turbo brush rotates, the blades move along it, cutting tangled fur and hair, while the cut-off hair is simultaneously sucked into the bag in the station. An interesting solution, implemented in exactly the same way as in the Xiaomi Mijia M30 Pro, reviewed earlier.

The pros and cons of the robot’s design will be mentioned in the conclusions. Let’s move on!

Specifications

The main specifications of the eufy L60, as stated by the manufacturer:

  • Battery: Li-Ion 2600 mAh
  • Suction power: 5000 Pa
  • Runtime: up to 120 minutes
  • Dust bag capacity: 2.5 liters
  • Dustbin capacity: 260 ml
  • Water tank capacity: 290 ml
  • Obstacle climbing ability: 2 cm
  • Robot dimensions: 332326102 mm
  • Station dimensions: 440331356 mm

I’ll note here that the battery seems a bit weak, but the suction power is claimed to be high, and this will be tested during the review.

Functional Features

Speaking of functionality, the eufy L60 is controlled via the proprietary eufy Clean app, which is available in Russian. The robot connects to the app quickly and without issues. Everything is intuitive.

Main features:

  • Self-cleaning of the dustbin at the station.
  • Self-cleaning of the turbo brush at the station.
  • Automatic room mapping and zoning.
  • Selection of zones and rooms for cleaning.
  • Virtual walls and no-go zones (including for wet cleaning mode).
  • Suction power adjustment.
  • Adjustment of mop cloth wetness level.
  • Custom cleaning mode.
  • Cleaning history log.
  • Scheduled cleaning setup.
  • Automatic power boost on carpets.

Overall, the robot offers all the essential options for customizing cleaning parameters, including a custom mode and control via Yandex Alice. An interesting feature is the ability to set the frequency of self-cleaning, even specifying a time interval for dustbin self-cleaning during the cleaning process. However, one drawback is the lack of voice notifications in Russian. While the app offers English and other languages, Russian is not included.

Navigation

Finally, let’s move on to the tests. First, we’ll check the navigation of the eufy L60 in a room with obstacles. The robot vacuum starts by cleaning the perimeter of the room. It managed to overcome the legs of the drying rack without getting stuck. Then it cleaned separately around the box and began cleaning the entire available area in a zigzag pattern. It also cleaned around each chair leg individually before returning to the station. The test was successfully passed.

In terms of navigation within the house, the robot vacuum cleans room by room, starting with the perimeter and then moving in a zigzag pattern. As I had set, every 15 minutes, the eufy L60 returned to the station for self-cleaning of the dustbin and brush. No areas were left uncleaned, showing that this model has good navigation.

Suction Power

In practice, the suction power turned out to be fairly standard. The robot vacuum was only able to extract debris from a 2 mm gap. This is likely due to the fact that the central brush block is not floating, meaning it doesn’t press tightly against the floor.

Dry Cleaning

The cleaning quality on laminate flooring is good — almost all debris was removed, except for small remnants in the corners, which are hard to reach for round robots. The central brush collected fur and hair, which is to be expected.

Carpet Cleaning

The same debris was scattered on a low-pile carpet, and I can say that the eufy L60 cleaned the carpet well. On a medium-pile carpet, some debris remained stuck, but it wasn’t critical. This is likely due, once again, to the fact that the central brush block is not floating.

Self-Cleaning

Right after the “dirty tests,” I checked how well the robot vacuum’s station handles self-cleaning of the dustbin and turbo brush. The dustbin was full, and the brush had hair and fur tangled around it. I returned the robot to the station and started the self-cleaning process. The result was good: the dustbin was emptied, and the turbo brush was clean.

I should note that tangled fur and hair remain only on the sides of the brush, but they are easy to remove thanks to the brush’s detachable design.

I tested self-cleaning in everyday conditions as well, and the result was just as positive. So, self-cleaning is well-implemented on this robot!

Wet Cleaning and Carpets

When performing wet cleaning with carpets on the floor, there is a nuance: the robot does not recognize carpets and may get them wet. To prevent this, you need to set no-go zones for wet cleaning over the carpets. Another option is to first perform a full dry cleaning, including the carpets, and then attach the wet cleaning mop and run the robot to mop only the hard surfaces.

Wet Cleaning

The wet cleaning quality of the eufy L60 leaves much to be desired by modern standards. The robot struggles even with simple stains like dried dirt, and it lacks a mop-washing function at the station. It is more suited for light floor wiping. The mop cloth helps remove fine dust that the turbo brush might miss.

Obstacle Clearance

The robot has good obstacle clearance, easily handling thresholds up to 2 cm high.

Crossing Black Surfaces

Another advantage is that the eufy L60 is not afraid of black surfaces and moves over them freely.

Noise Level

Finally, let’s measure the noise level of the eufy L60. It ranges between 67.6 and 75 dB. The noise level is higher than that of its counterparts, which is important to keep in mind. The station is also noisy, with peak noise levels reaching 79 dB.

Personal Opinion

Let me highlight the pros and cons before sharing my thoughts on the tested robot vacuum. Here’s what I liked:

  • Effective self-cleaning of the dustbin and turbo brush at the station.
  • Good quality dry cleaning.
  • Capable of vacuuming and mopping simultaneously.
  • Control via the proprietary app in Russian.
  • Integration with Yandex Alice.
  • Good obstacle clearance.
  • The robot vacuum is not afraid of black surfaces.

Now, the drawbacks identified during testing:

  • The claimed suction power did not hold up in tests.
  • Increased noise levels during operation and self-cleaning at the station.
  • Budget build quality. The lack of a wall sensor and carpet sensor causes the robot to collide with obstacles more often, doesn’t always automatically boost suction on carpets, and cannot automatically avoid carpets during wet cleaning.
  • Weak battery.
  • Primitive wet cleaning by 2024 standards.
  • No Russian language for voice notifications.

Overall, some of these issues are typical for a price segment of $350 when a self-cleaning station is included. However, there are also individual shortcomings specific to this robot.

Taking the pros and cons into account, I would recommend the eufy L60 for pet owners, provided that the primary focus is on dry cleaning on hard floors and low-pile carpets. In such conditions, the eufy L60 will perform its tasks effectively.
